From 29.11.-30.11.2021, the CRC 1463 hosted its first network meeting in Hannover. The objective was to open up the discussion on the concept of the digital twin, which so far has hardly been defined in general terms, and to define a more concrete framework for the concept through approaches from current research or application examples from industry. The digital twin is developed during the entire lifetime (from the birth of the component) and is a fusion of models and data. It can be used for the design, operation, assessment and management of offshore megastructures and other aerospace structures. The computer model captures the dynamic behaviour during operation and is sensitive to structural changes.
The speakers were national as well as international, and their presentations contributed to a particularly productive exchange. Likewise, the aspect "Wind Energy Meets Aviation" set a thematic focus on both days, which led to inspiring discussions among the participants of the network meeting.
In compliance with the current pandemic-related requirements, around 50 people - some of them online - took part in the 2021 network meeting and used the opportunity to make new contacts. The CRC 1463 is looking forward to the next exchange of experts in 2022!
